Getting pregnant as I was graduating college was not a part of my plans. However, I am so grateful for my little one that I wouldn’t change the timing for anything. That being said, I am 22 and pregnant. The only birthday celebrations I’ve planned so far have consisted of dinner with close friends and then drinking and then partying. Not exactly the picture perfect itinerary for a pregnant mommy.
Coming up on my 23rd birthday, I still have no idea what I want to do and it’s just 3 weeks away. Check out these ideas for inspiration on how to celebrate and enjoy your twenty-something birthday. After all you’re pregnant, not dead!
Pregnant Birthday Ideas for the Twenty-Something Mommy
For me, this is a staple piece of any birthday. However, some people suggest doing this as a main event. While we know pregnant women love to eat, I suggest pairing this with an “experience”. Something to remember when you look back. A story you can tell that says “oh yeah at 23 I did this.”
If you are planning dinner let me just say this is not the year to be adventurous and try new things. Your taste buds are extra sensitive right now and you’ll thank yourself for eating something that you’ve already had at some point in your pregnancy, but maybe with a slight twist.
Love this idea. If you can afford it, go for it! It’s not in my budget with all the preparations for baby, since my due date is just a month out from my birthday, I’m tapped.
If you do choose this option, make sure you find a spa that specializes in maternity massages. Even if it isn’t their specialty, ensure they have one at least offered. It’s not like you can lay flat on your stomach, and if they use certain essential oils you’ll want to keep it safe.
If you do enough planning in advance, try using some of your cash back earnings from Ebates to fund this activity.
I’ve never been to a comedy club before, so this was an option I was seriously considering. No one needs a good laugh like a pregnant woman. With all the seriousness your hormones bring you, it’s a well deserved break. Cry because you’re happy for once!
Unfortunately, there’s no comedians I want to see that will be in my area around my birthday.
This could be at a spa, nail salon, or from the comfort of your own home. Get your girls together for manicures, pedicures, facials, the works! They’ll appreciate this just as much as you do and it trumps any night of drinking. Ditch the hangovers and choose an option that actually enhances your beauty.
Sip and Paint
A sober sip and paint could be just what you need to still feel included. See if the place you choose offers “mocktails” or any fancy-looking juice of some sort. You’ll get all the fun of a typical sip and paint and I’m sure your friends will get a kick out of the effort you’re making to still be one of the girls.
You can never go wrong with bowling. It’s one of the lowest impact activities for you and your bump. Your arms aren’t pregnant so have a blast with this one.
Another option similar to bowling that could be fun is mini golf. Same concept and if you thought it was fun before, you won’t be disappointed pregnant.
I was feeling really bummed about not being able to go to sky zone for the first time and jump around. Jumping at 35 weeks won’t work for me.
While the arcade is not in my plans for my birthday, at 32 weeks I went to Dave and Buster’s for my brother’s birthday and it was a blast. Almost every game is something you can do while pregnant. I played basketball, red cup, skee-ball, and some video games. This is the perfect idea to remind you that your still young. It’s like Chuck-E-Cheese for adults.
