If you’re anything like me being pregnant, you love snacks! I enjoy eating small meals frequently because I get the “itis” if I eat large meals. It works out because it’s actually healthier for you to eat this way and you read how it helps combat fatigue here. Unfortunately, I work a retail job during the day and I have been since I was 2 months pregnant. This led me to search for things that I could take to work and snack on quickly.
In my case, there’s a fridge right in the office, but I realize that isn’t always the case for a lot of you. I’ll also try to incorporate snacks that do not need to be refrigerated. I’m very picky about what I eat, so this list should be full of goodies everyone will like. Enjoy my list of snack suggestions and things I actually take to work with me!
Pregnancy Snacks You Can Eat At Work
This one was a no-brainer for me. When I first decided I needed a snack arsenal for work, I thought of string cheese first. It’s quick, it’s dry, there’s no mess. It’s really the perfect snack, with protein and calcium packed in there too. The only drawback to this, cheese (as a food group) is a lot more expensive than I’m ever willing to spend on a snack. However, 1 large pack will last a lifetime if you buy other options, so it’s completely worth it.
These can be bought in bulk. I went to Sam’s Club and got a ridiculous pack (I don’t exactly remember the quantity) of this same brand. Below is a link to a nice sized package.
Apple Sauce Cups
Apple sauce cups are quick and sweet. It’s all the perks of an apple, plus you don’t have to worry about it getting stuck in your teeth! You also don’t have to worry about these turning brown like whole apples when you slice them, they’ll last you a while.
Below is a link to a 36 cup box! That’s huge! Not only that but these are on sale plus an additional 15% potential savings. You can’t beat that deal. I’m a little upset I wasted my money buying the 6 cup pack (grrr).
Here is one of those non-perishable snacks that I love so much. These are ADDICTIVE! They’re a sweet snack you can pop right in your mouth. The only thing I dislike about them is that 4 muffins come in a bag. Makes you feel especially crappy when you eat 2-3 bags, but most people understand for the time being that you’re eating for two (even if you would’ve eaten the same amount before).
For my personal taste buds, I only like blueberry but here’s a variety pack for the adventurous that enjoy trying different flavors.
Peanut Butter Crackers
This is another non-perishable snack that I’ve even kept out on the floor, behind the register. They don’t go bad and you can buy them in bulk! That’s a kind of combination I love. This also satisfies both your sweet and savory taste buds and sometimes that salt is just what you need to keep the nausea of pregnancy to a minimum.
Here is a link to a bulk-sized, 27 packs, Keebler Peanut Butter Cheese Cracker Pack. If you have a Prime account you can even get 15% off with the coupon.
Yogurt is one of my personal favorites. It’s even more satisfying than apple sauce. The downside of this snack is it has an expiration date but they don’t last long anyway because I’m always eating them up!
Grapes, plums, apple slices, cuties, the list goes on! There’s so many grab and go fruits to choose from. This is a great option if you usually have a sweet tooth. I don’t even buy myself candy anymore I just choose one of these tasty snacks. If you really want to spice it up, add some almond butter to apples, bananas, or whatever else you like and you won’t regret it.
I do caution against eating veiny fruits like pineapples, oranges, etc. If you do prefer these fruits, always keep floss handy in your purse!
Some great vegetable choices for work are carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli. These are just about the only vegetables I personally eat, however, others enjoy veggies such as cucumbers and celery. Careful again, floss will be needed after these snacks.
So that’s my snack list! Are there any snacks you can’t live without that you’d like to suggest? Comment below and let us know which snacks work best for you.
