Top 5 Mom Podcasts for Business, Parenting, Finances and Self-Care
Podcasts are so trendy right now. They are the easiest way to get information while you multitask. You can easily replace an hour or two of listening to music with listening to a podcast that will teach you how to grow your business, be a better mom, manage your money, or take better care of yourself. As a working mom, I personally like to listen to podcasts while I work during the day. I don’t have to worry about my boss walking over while a tv show is on my screen, and I’m actually bringing myself value. When I’m awake at night with insomnia podcasts are also a great way to get back to sleep without screen brightness keeping me up!
Podcasts are the perfect solution to me plotting my escape from corporate America and my boring ass 9-5 accounting job. I get all the best information, usually from proven professionals that are featured guests. The best part is it’s freeee. No subscribing to emails you don’t want to get information you don’t need! Don’t get me wrong some subscriptions are super helpful but others are like “dude I just want this one product you have,” that’s it!
With that being said, let’s go over some of my personal favorite podcasts that are super helpful to mommies and girl bosses like myself!
Mommy Podcasts
1: Experiencing Motherhood
My personal favorite favorite favorite! Kim Williams tops my list as my favorite podcast because she covers the entire spectrum of topics relevant to being a mom. From work life balance, to budgeting and saving, to Stella getting her groove back as a single mom 😄 Kim has you covered.
The guests are so relevant and the topics are real. She gets perspectives from sources you might originally side eye but they are so necessary! She did a whole series with single dads and talked about cops renting relationships from all angles.
More importantly (at least to me) than anything I like her voice! It’s like having a talk with a friend. And she looks like me so that helps as well. Being a black single mom comes with its own set of struggles and representation matters because she’s got them all covered.
You can find Kim on Instagram @singleblackmotherhood. She also has a website https://www.singleblackmotherhood.com/learn. Finally, her podcast can be found by following this link.
2: BACKtalk Podcast By Successful Black Parenting Magazine
This podcast is great because of the variety of topics Janice discusses. But particularly, educating our black children. From reading, to banking, to STEM, she’s got you covered. She also talks about a variety of mom topics like reproductive health, millennial parenting, and self care.
This wide range definitely qualifies Janice to be at the top of my podcast list for 2020. The recency and frequency of her podcasts is also something that draws me in. There’s nothing worse than finding an amazing podcast that stops in 2017! BACKtalk is relevant and recent.
Business Podcasts
3: The GaryVee Audio Experience
This was hard ranking at 2 instead of one. If it’s one thing I love about Gary, it’s the volume of content he puts out. So I can always listen to something new. His podcast isn’t mom focused but he talks a lot about growing your business and makes it very simple. He’s all about action which can sometimes be the kick in the ass I need when I’m making excuses.
More importantly than business, his podcasts are about being kind to yourself and building the life you want. This isn’t always about making as much money as you can, as it is about what else makes you happy. I love that perspective because some people don’t understand that about me. I’d rather get the most out of this stage of my child’s life and the money will come.
Find the GaryVee podcast here, and follow him on IG for more!
4: Side Hustle Pro
This is a staple for sure! Side Hustle Pro has tons of successful businesswomen guest speakers on the show giving you all the tips and sharing their stories. When I say successful, we’re talking millionairesses! 🤑🤑. The most useful thing to me as a still working mommy is the balance episodes. Talking about balancing side hustle with main hustle is so helpful!
I’d love to hear more about the guests personal lives (like if they had to do it all while being a mom/single mom/etc). But regardless of their struggles it’s still super helpful that they’re giving you the blueprint to what it takes to be successful in your business!

Funny Podcasts
5: Why Won’t You Date Me
If you need a little comic relief, this is the one for you. Nicole Byer is the host, and I recognize her primarily from the show Girl Code. She can say some crazy things but I usually find them funny. She has guests that usually make me laugh even hard because of how they play off of one another’s jokes. Not only that, but they do actually talk about topics relevant to dating. These days I could use a laugh in that area of life because it’s rough!
It’s nice to take a break from serious podcasts and just put yourself in a good mood. If you’re in need of something like that, check out Why Won’t You Date Me.
That concludes my list of 2020 podcasts. What are you currently listening to? Let me know in the comments below!
I love podcasts! I’ll have to check out side hustle pro!
I have not thought about Podcasting until now. Might look into it when I’m ready.
I considered it after listening to Gary V but haven’t gotten around to doing it!
