Patio Transformation: Insanely Simple Ways To Upgrade On A Budget
3 Tips to an Astonishing Patio Transformation On a Budget
A relaxing patio can be your escape from reality for a moment in time. Having a functional space can also be the change of scenery you need, especially if you’re working from home. Check out these easy and (mostly) reasonably priced options to upgrade your space to exactly what you need and want it to be. I took my patio from a bland slab of concrete to my outdoor oasis. Utilize my Amazon Storefront for access to the exact products I purchased.
- New Patio Furniture (sets and umbrellas)
- Outdoor Decor (tabletop decorations, pillows, lights and torches)
- Greenery (flowers, garden, trees and plants)
The tips provided here vary in cost. A “budget” is simply an amount of money set aside for a project. These are not “cheap” fixes, although some of the items are very affordable. Set a budget, save up or set the money aside, and determine the costs of the items that are most important to your transformation.
Out With the Old, In With the New
If you’ve had your patio furniture for a while and the style no longer suits your style, replace it. This may also be necessary when moving from a smaller space to a place with a larger patio. That’s what happened in my case. I went from a small covered “porch” area where I just had 2 chairs and a side table, to a patio that I’ve furnished with a sectional, grill, umbrella, and plants.
Decide whether any of your furniture is salvageable or if you can build on what you already have. For example, if you already have two chairs that you still like the style of, you can add a sofa of the same color. Remember that this is a budgeted project so if you don’t want to spend the majority on furniture, this is a great way to cut costs.
Accessorize Your Patio Space
Decor is as important to your patio space as accessories are to your outfit. With that being said, a little can go along way! Little additions that make a big impact. include:
- pillows
- lights
- a tabletop candle
Let There Be Green
No outdoor space is complete without some greenery to give it that true outdoor feeling. The right plants can also serve more than one purpose by adding color, repelling bugs, and even giving you an edible harvest. Two great examples of adding greenery to your space are:
- a simple garden bed
- a tree and/or floor plant
When it comes to choosing a garden bed, this can be really inexpensive or somewhat costly. Some garden beds are as simple as “walls” that create a border around your garden, yet can be really expensive. Decide what material you want (wood or metal) and what your budget is. I personally couldn’t afford an actual garden bed because I spent the majority of my budget on furniture. Instead, I got 3 small tins from the Target deal section that were $3-5 each. Remember, you may have to get thrifty on some items and ball out on others. Pick your battles wisely!
Plants that are great for outdoor environments include majesty, monstera, and more. Research which plants are best are best for the amount of sunlight you get, how often you want to water them, and how large they grow. For more outdoor plant options check out this article from Good Housekeeping.
